Wagoner County Emergency Management is pleased to announce the appointment of Tyler J. Puckett as the new Director of Emergency Management for Wagoner County. A dedicated and compassionate leader, Puckett brings over 15 years of experience and training in emergency management to this vital position.

Puckett's remarkable journey began as a volunteer with Wagoner County Emergency Management (WCEM) in 2011, where he demonstrated remarkable commitment and leadership. Over the years, he has held various roles within WCEM including starting as a volunteer right out of high school. He quickly transitioned to a captain before becoming full-time in 2021 as the Deputy Director.

Puckett's extensive training equips him for his new role. His qualifications include as an EMT, Firefighter 1, and completed the NIMS Professional Development Series. Puckett has led various task force deployments such as the recent Lawton flooding, Shawnee tornado, multiple swift water rescue operations, and many wild land fire taskforces.

Prior to this role, Puckett was instrumental in the E911 dispatch center, serving from 2015 to 2021, where he quickly rose to the position of supervisor. Additionally, he is actively involved with the Stone Bluff Fire Department since 2011, serving as a captain, further strengthening his leadership skills and community ties.

Puckett is not only committed to his professional duties; he is also a devoted family man. He is married to Kay E. Puckett, and together they are proud parents to Makenzi Jo and Caiden. They look forward to continuing their journey in Wagoner County, where Puckett will lead WCEM in enhancing community preparedness and response efforts.

"I plan to continue the leadership and legacy that has been here for many years. The training and partnerships will never stop as we continue to grow this department,” Puckett said.

Puckett will officially assume his responsibilities as Director immediately. Wagoner County is confident under his guidance the county will continue to thrive in emergency preparedness and response.
