Congratulations to the Coweta Police Department, winner of the 2026 Boots & Badges Community Blood Drive Challenge! It was a close contest on June 26, with nine donors rolling up their sleeves in honor of the Coweta Police Department and seven donors giving blood in honor of the Coweta Fire Department.
Holly Park with Our Blood Institute said OBI’s goal was to collect 17 pints of life-saving blood. There were 10 pre-signs and 18 donors registering the day of the drive. Of those individuals, six were first-time donors while three were deferrals.
In all, there were 14 whole blood donations made while two were double red cell contributions for a net total of 16 donors.
“For every one donation, you can save up to three lives, so the 16 donations (at this drive) potentially saved 48 lives!” Park exclaimed. “We could not keep our commitments to our hospitals without you!”
